After a soggy summer, the weather may not be very different, but autumn’s here and that means the clocks changing to Greenwich Mean Time.
At this end of the summer the clocks go back, which means an extra hour of opening time for venues with a late licence. The switch this year takes place in the early hours of Sunday, October 29th. When the time hits 2am, clocks go back to 1am – so those last orders will be postponed for an hour.
It’s a small but welcome boost to trade, because you can bet anyone busy clubbing or enjoying a drink at that time is going to take advantage of the change. Of course, it also means rota changes and extra hours for staff, but if you’re open late then you must already have a good and profitable reason.
Let’s all raise a glass to that extra hour
If you have any uncertainties, we at Complete Licensing are always here to help and advise. And whether you plan to take advantage of the clocks changing or not, this is a good time to check your licence and talk to us if you have any licensing doubts or questions. In the meantime, let’s all raise a glass to that extra hour. Cheers!
