Who knows whether we’ll see a break in the rain which seems to have been a constant companion over the last few months. What we do know is that Spring is upon us – the season for looking forward and getting things in order – including your business practices and licensing matters.
The terms and requirements of the Licensing Act 2003 are – as we are all aware – many and varied. And whilst it’s easy to keep a careful eye on the ever-presents (opening hours, checking for thirsty minors, keeping the environment outside your premises quiet – that sort of thing), there are plenty of other considerations which might slip your mind.
Have you changed your name or address, for example? Did you let your licensing authority know? If not, that’s an offence. The same applies to the DPS licence holder for your premises. Have you mislaid your personal licence card and failed to report it? Also an offence.
Amendments may be irritating, but they are crucial to the smooth and legitimate operation of a licensed business. And they don’t cost much – it’s just a question of getting in touch with the relevant local authority.
This is also the best time – in the quiet period before the hoped-for summer business storm – to ensure all staff qualifications and certificates are up to date – and if not, to get them sorted quickly.
Then there’s the question of TENs and forthcoming dates such as Easter, Spring Bank Holiday and, of course, the European Football Championships. More business, but more admin too.
It may seem like a lot to take on board, but if you already have a working relationship with Complete Licensing, you’ll know we can handle all these issues for you. If you haven’t used our services yet, get in touch and see what we can do to help you improve the day-to-day running of your business.
