I retired from the Metropolitan Police Service in March 2017 after 31 years of exemplary service. I will not add a full resume of roles over my service but highlight the following as being relevant to my experience in making this assessment.

  • Nationally accredited Senior Investigating Officer, Homicide and Serious Crime Command (Detective Chief Inspector and Temporary Detective Superintendent)
  • Police advisor to The Forensic Regulator at the Home Office, and member of the Specialist DNA Analysis Group
  • Trident — reactive investigations and proactive teams (Detective Superintendent)
  • Metropolitan Police Service representative on the National Ballistic Intelligence Service (NaBIS)
  • Hackney Borough — Detective Superintendent and Temporary OCU Commander
  • Corporate lead on strategic and operational policing delivery for the night-time economy for Shoreditch (Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Islington and City of London)
  • Borough Commander, Newham, until retirement

Since retiring I have operated as a Crisis and Risk Management Consultant, including advising licensed premises.

In addition, I co-founded a security company specialising in public realm security patrols including London’s West End through Business Improvement Districts. Part of this service was operating in the evening and night-time economy. I have since left the company to focus on building a placemaking company with six associates. This includes strategic evolution of diverse evening and night-time economies.
